Stopping smoking during pregnancy can be really challenging. Your body is already going through so many changes, and the thought of making even more changes can feel overwhelming.

At the same time, choosing to stop smoking will be one of the most supportive steps you take for your health and your baby’s wellbeing. We do know that the sooner you’re able to quit during pregnancy, the more it can benefit your baby. There is no safe level of smoking for you or your baby.
Our caring team is ready to support you in a way that works just for you.

What We Offer

  • Safe medication to help with cravings
  • Non-judgemental support on a regular basis
  • A plan made just for you and your needs

Using both medication and support makes it 3 to 4 times more likely you’ll quit smoking for good.

How does quitting smoking help you and your baby?

  • Your baby gets more oxygen and nutrients from the placenta
  • Your baby can grow and develop better
  • You may feel more energy
  • Less chance of problems during your pregnancy
  • It lowers the risk of miscarriage, premature birth and stillbirth
  • Your labour and birth may be safer
  • Breastfeeding can get off to a better start
  • Your baby is safe from secondhand smoke
  • Your baby is less likely to become overweight or get diabetes
  • Your baby is less likely to have ear infections or breathing problems
  • It lowers the risk of sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS)

Your First Meeting

We’ll talk about your health and smoking habits. Then, together, we’ll make a plan that feels right for you. We’ll also discuss how to handle cravings and how to use nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) safely while you’re pregnant.
Face to face appointments can include carbon monoxide (CO) monitoring if you wish to measure your progress during your quit.

Our Goal

We want to make quitting as easy and comfortable as possible.

Working Together

We’ll keep your maternity team updated so everyone can support you and your baby.

How Long Does It Last?

The programme runs for 12 weeks. At first, we’ll meet every two weeks, then once a month when you feel more confident.

How Can We Meet?

You can choose phone calls or face-to-face meetings—whichever you prefer.

Need Help Between Meetings?

Our admin team is here Monday to Friday, 8 am to 6 pm. Just call them, and they’ll connect you with someone from our team who can help.
